Corporate Governance (CGOV-21A)

Corporate Governance is a highly interactive and engaging program that prepares individuals to claim their seat on the board with confidence, and to deal effectively with difficult, often unpredictable situations that directors inevitably must face. This course provides Air Force Senior Leaders a tailored opportunity to help understand how small groups drive organizations, much like the Air Force Council or other codified Executive-level Air Force Boards. Individuals are guided by top faculty in collaboration with recognized corporate governance experts to deepen understanding of the responsibilities of a board member, develop the essential skills and strategic insight needed to serve effectively, and learn how to apply them in practice. Individuals learn to orient themselves to the shareholders’ perspective, gain an understanding of the interests of multiple constituencies, and learn frameworks that can move the board beyond ensuring compliance to identifying opportunities for long-term value creation. In addition, the course provides an external reference that increases an Air Force Senior Leaders’ understanding of the Air Force corporate structure and perspectives regarding opportunities to optimize the structure’s effectiveness and efficiency.
